Watfordians (100 Years, 100 Lives), 2018
50 paintings (variable dimensions) – acrylic on paper, presented in found photo album. £400.

‘Watfordians (100 Years, 100 Lives)’  is comprised of 50 paintings (acrylic on paper) – portraits of former and current residents of my home town of Watford, inspired by photos from the Watford town archives, online news reports and Instagram. The paintings are presented in a second-hand photo album inscribed with a dedication dated February 12, 1910

The work is my entry in the 2018 Watford Area Arts Forum Harrington Trophy art challenge competition. Artists were invited to respond to a brief entitled ‘100’ inspired by a number of 100th anniversaries taking place in 2018 including the end of the First World War, the formation of the Royal Air Force and the 1918 Representation of the People Act, giving women the right to vote.
